Bio

Dusty “Zoom Zoom” Zomer is a threat to win on any night. Having grown up watching Sunday night shows at his hometown Huset’s Speedway, sprint car racing was in his blood from a young age. In 2015, the South Dakotan teamed up with the Buffalo Wild Wings #82 team, and turned in an outstanding season. He won a championship at Huset's, was the "Lyle Boyd Hard-charger" at Knoxville, and finished the season with his first World of Outlaws win at the World Finals in Charlotte. He also added a preliminary win and a second place finish in the 360 Nationals. In 2023, he raced a limited schedule at Knoxville and will return on a weekly basis with owner Jeremiah Jordahl and crew chief Danny Lasoski in 2024.

After winning five Grand National championships in the go-kart ranks, Dusty moved up into the sprint cars in 2002.

Dusty first came to Knoxville on a weekly basis in the 360 class in 2004 and garnered Rookie of the Year honors. He also won the 360 track championship at Huset’s that year, and won his first 410 feature in 2005 at Huset’s, along with a 360 Nationals prelim at Knoxville. In 2006, he brought the 410 to Knoxville, earning Rookie of the Year honors in that class.

His success at the Nationals has turned heads as well. He finished 15th in the 2006 finale in his rookie 410 season at Knoxville, and finished an outstanding 9th in the 2008 Saturday finale. He also led the points for much of the 2007 season on the strength of two wins, but settled for runner-up honors at seasons’ end. In 2009, Dusty was named the 410 “Sportsman of the Year”.

In 2010, he joined forces with Derek Ingalls and the pair, along with crew chief, Jeff Woodruff formed a good team. They would qualify for the Nationals final that year (Dusty’s fourth in four different cars). Dusty was second in 2011 points and followed that up with a fourth place standing in 2012. He may have been the driver of the night at the Knoxville Nationals in 2013, charging from ninth to third in the B, and 23rd to 11th in the championship event!
