BACK AT HOME: Corey Day Returns to High Limit This Week, Set for JMR Season Debut at Las Vegas
"PayDay" Enters 2026 with 11 Career Wins with Interstate Batteries High Limit Racing
LAS VEGAS, NEV. (March 11, 2026) – While a blossoming career has transplanted him from Clovis, California to Mooresville, North Carolina and deep into the heart of NASCAR country, Corey Day remains as entrenched in sprint car racing as ever. Set to compete at the dirt track and big track this week at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, the 20-year-old is thrilled to get back on the dirt and make his 2026 season debut in the Jason Meyers Racing No. 14.
“Sprint car racing is my first love, it’s where I feel most at home,” Day said. “Being able to be out there on the dirt is almost as important for my mental health as just staying sharp behind the wheel. I still have a lot of things I want to accomplish in a sprint car, so I wasn’t ready to put that on hold. I’m incredibly grateful that Mr. H still allows me to chase those dreams.”
Planted full-time into the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series this year, Corey’s “Day” job is now wheeling the HendrickCars.com No. 17 for Hendrick Motorsports. The 20-year-old pavement rookie has rattled off three top-10 finishes with runs of 4th at Atlanta (Ga.) Motor Speedway, 5th at Circuit of the Americas (Tex.), and 9th at Phoenix (Ariz.) Raceway to start the season. Entering the series’ fifth race this week at Las Vegas, he’s sitting eighth in the series points.
His duties at Hendrick will always come first and foremost, but much like his NASCAR Cup Series teammate Kyle Larson, Day has the blessing to continue his dirt racing endeavors when the opportunities arise. Hoping to run around 20-30 shows if possible this year, they’ll all come in the familiar Jason Meyers Racing No. 14 as the former World of Outlaws champion has supported Corey’s sprint car career since the beginning.
“It’s really awesome, you know he’s always been Uncle Jason more than he is my boss or my car owner,” he added on his relationship with Jason Meyers. “Before I even started racing Jason was in my life as a friend of my parents and obviously my dad drove for the team, so everyone from Jason and Preston to HP and Eddie, these are people that have been there for my whole career. It’s crazy to think that we started racing sprint cars together five years ago, he took me on the road full-time, and now it’s led to me in NASCAR.”
After the first two seasons of national tour action, Day ranks inside the top-10 of all major statistical categories with Interstate Batteries High Limit Racing. Through 69 feature starts (10th most) with the series he’s earned 11 feature wins (3rd most), 15 podiums (8th most), 26 top-fives (7th most), and 44 top-10s (6th most).
One of those 11 career wins with High Limit - only Rico Abreu (25) and Brad Sweet (14) have more - came at the exact track he returns to this week, as he topped last year’s season opener at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. He’ll look to keep that undefeated streak alive at LVMS as the SugarBee Blackjack Bash expands to a three-day event on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
“I think that around the end of 2024 we finally got our big track program pretty dialed in and that has shown,” he said of their success at Vegas. “The track surface last year was awesome, too, it was two lanes and I found the bottom late in the race and got rolling. I’ve always said that you cannot win no matter what on a half-mile without a good race car, and thankfully we’ve had that box checked lately. I’m hoping we can roll out close to what we had then and with a similar track we can get the same results.”
Day is one of three NASCAR connections to the Interstate Batteries High Limit Racing field with Cup stars Kyle Larson and Ty Gibbs also planning to compete at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway dirt track. The action begins on Thursday with Hot Laps set for 5:15pm PT on FloRacing.
