TOUGH AS NAILS: Aaron Reutzel Bound & Determined to Deliver High Limit Championship for Brian & Lisa Ridge

MOORESVILLE, NC. (March 4, 2026) – The 2025 Interstate Batteries High Limit Racing season proved that Aaron Reutzel’s tenacity should never be questioned. A broken nose and a shattered foot - suffered in two separate incidents - were only hurdles along the way for the tough Texan, who (with help from Justin Sanders) kept the Ridge & Sons Racing, PowerPlus No. 87 in the title fight down to the final lap last year.

Falling short of Rico Abreu/Curb-Agajanian Racing by a mere 45-points, A-Aron and RSR are using those setbacks and the pain they endured as motivation heading into a fresh 2026 campaign.

“I want nothing more than to bring Brian & Lisa Ridge a championship,” Reutzel told FloRacing. “They deserve this so much. They’re one of the few owners who you see that actually believe in their driver and allow you to have a down year. They’ve known that from day one we are building a race team and our time will come with hard work.

I look back at our first two-to-three years and it was no fault of anyone, but we struggled our ass off between being a new team, maybe not having all the pieces in the right place, missing setups, you name it. I can name off 10 owners right now in 20 seconds that would have canned me in a heartbeat. They did what it takes and look at us now.”

Committed to High Limit from day one, Ridge & Sons Racing finished 10th in 2024 with Cory Eliason competing full-time. Last year, they brought Reutzel onto the road following several years at Knoxville Raceway and instantly became championship contenders - winning nine series races as a team.

A $100,000 Bob Weikert Memorial title and a first-career score for “super sub” Justin Sanders at Placerville were among the highlights last year, but it’s hard to argue against the magnitude of Reutzel’s comeback victories. First, there was Perris Auto Speedway when he sported stitches and bloodshot eyes in victory lane, his second race back from the hospital. Secondly, there was Port Royal Speedway when he nursed a tender foot full of pain to glory at “The Speed Palace,” his second race back after sitting out for more than a month.

Along the way, the Ridge’s never lost faith in their number one guy, and they believe in him even more this year.

“We had some curveballs thrown our way with Aaron’s injuries, but we persevered and nearly claimed the owner’s championship,” Brian Ridge said. “We’re raising the bar for 2026 with our aim set on an owner and driver title with High Limit. We couldn’t be more excited to have PowerPlus rejoin our efforts. It’s been a privilege to build a longstanding and successful relationship with them, and I’m confident that only great things are ahead for us all.”

The 35-year-old Clute, Texas native spent his off-season by staying sharp behind the wheel, flying down under to compete in Australia with Monte Motorsport. The trip paid off with a trio of victories at Western Australia’s Bunbury and Perth, and then a big one with Reutzel claiming his second title in the Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic at Premier Speedway.

Back in the United States with his family at home in Iowa, it’s now full steam ahead on the new season.

Aaron’s 2026 Interstate Batteries High Limit Racing season officially opens with the SugarBee Blackjack Bash at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on March 12-14 during NASCAR weekend. The 65-race tour will criss-cross the country for eight months before concluding with the All-In Championship Weekend at Texas Motor Speedway on October 16-17. Fans can buy pre-sale event tickets, which enters you for a chance to be selected for the DURST Dice Roll, by clicking here.

Earning the fifth ranked membership across the 2024-25 seasons, Ridge & Sons Racing holds the ‘10 card’ - which they purchased from Jason Meyers Racing - worth a guaranteed $260,000 payout in the inaugural season of the High Roller Club. Their finish this year will combine with last year to determine the 2027 card rankings when the value of the top-10 cards jump to a total of $2,925,000 - making every single point extra valuable.
