HITTING THE ROAD: Tanner Holmes Excited for Rookie Run at a National Tour with Buch Motorsports

MOORESVILLE, NC. (March 2, 2026) – From starting a YouTube channel at 12-years-old to realizing his childhood dreams by 21, Tanner Holmes has enjoyed quite the journey while building his brand and honing his craft behind the wheel. In 2026, the Jacksonville, Oregon native finally gets the opportunity to join a national tour for the first time as he teams with Buch Motorsports in pursuit of the Rayce Rudeen Foundation Rookie of the Year Award with Interstate Batteries High Limit Racing.

“It all came together fairly quickly,” Holmes said looking back on his hiring. “They needed a driver in October and actually reached out through Facebook. I honestly didn’t know Tom [Buch], I’d obviously raced against the #13 before, but I’d never met him before. I was in the middle of figuring out if I would run my own #18T again, re-join the Tarlton #21, or look at a few different options. I knew that I wanted to run a national tour, though.

When Tom reached out and I went over all my choices with some close friends it felt like this was the best decision to make. The team always has potential, Daison [Pursley] just did a great job in his first year in it, and Justin [Peck] was always fast before him. I talked to Sean [Strausbaugh] on the phone for a bit, heard from Tom some more, and then we all decided let’s do it without even meeting each other.”

Rising from the Outlaw Kart ranks, Holmes’ career blossomed from Red Bluff, California, and then up and down the west coast as he climbed into Sprint Cars. His big break came in 2023 when he substituted in the Shark Racing #1T with the World of Outlaws, earning a trio of top-five finishes. Last year, splitting time between his own ride and the Tarlton Racing team, he made several strong impressions between wins in the Silver Cup at Silver Dollar Speedway and the Trophy Cup finale at Thunderbowl Raceway.

Getting acclimated together, Holmes and Buch will have contested eight World of Outlaws shows before the 2026 High Limit campaign begins. On Monday, they earned their first top-10 together with an eighth-place showing at Volusia Speedway Park in Florida. He joins a long line of iconic names to drive the Buch #13 which includes Kyle Larson, Jesse Hockett, Kevin Swindell, Tyler Walker, Kramer Williamson, Jason Leffler, Jac Haudenschild, Tim Shaffer, Paul McMahan, Daryn Pittman, Danny Dietrich, Spencer Bayston, and so, so many more.

This year, Holmes is trying to make Buch the first car owner to supply three different winners with Interstate Batteries High Limit Racing - previously scoring wins with Justin Peck and Daison Pursley.

“I don’t have any crazy expectations for this year, I just want to take it one night at a time and the points will take care of themselves,” he said looking ahead. “We’ve worked really hard on qualifying well for our first few races together. I think if you can time near the top you’re going to have more opportunities to improve and that will lead to better results. I would like to focus on consistency for sure. I don’t want to put my pressure on myself for a specific number of points, I just want to get better each night and let everything else fall into place - maybe even a few wins along the way.”

With 176,000 followers on Facebook and another 86,000 on his YouTube, Holmes has amassed one of the largest followings in dirt track racing - evident by his t-shirt sales, autograph lines, and social media fanfare. It’s a brand that he’s built from the ground up for almost a decade now.

“It actually started because I thought what we do as a sport is so unique that people would enjoy seeing it from all of the angles,” he said on his social media efforts. “I found myself when I was a little kid watching people from other sports that I knew nothing about because it was interesting. I thought the same with dirt track racing and what I was doing with Outlaw Karts then and possibly Sprint Cars, people could follow my journey from the beginning.

It’s been amazing. I never thought it would get this big, but it definitely turned into a giant part of my journey. It helped me get opportunities to be in front of people, find partners, gain funding to run my own team, meet new car owners like Bobby Allen and Tommy Tarlton, and now race at a high level on a national tour.”

Battling for Rayce Rudeen Foundation Rookie of the Year honors against Oklahoman Hank Davis in the Michael Dutcher Motorsports #17GP, Holmes will face plenty of new challenges in his first full-time go at a national tour - in fact, of the 34 tracks on the High Limit schedule, he’ll be racing at 18 of them for the first time in his career.

Tanner’s 2026 Interstate Batteries High Limit Racing season officially opens with the SugarBee Blackjack Bash at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on March 12-14 during NASCAR weekend. The 65-race tour will criss-cross the country for eight months before concluding with the All-In Championship Weekend at Texas Motor Speedway on October 16-17. Fans can buy pre-sale event tickets, which enters you for a chance to be selected for the DURST Dice Roll, by clicking here.

Earning the seventh ranked membership across the 2024-25 seasons, Buch Motorsports holds the ‘8 card’ worth a guaranteed $220,000 payout in the inaugural season of the High Roller Club. Their finish this year will combine with last year to determine the 2027 card rankings when the value of the top-10 cards jump to a total of $2,925,000 - making every single point extra valuable.
