WINNING AS A FAMILY: Danny Sams III and Parents Focused on Improving in Year Two with High Limit

MOORESVILLE, NC. (February 23, 2026) – A boy from Florida with his mom and dad by his side the whole way - quite literally as his crew - unexpectedly became one of the most beloved stories of the 2025 Interstate Batteries High Limit Racing season. This year, with the help of his father Danny Sams II and mother Tina Sams, Danny Sams III, is ready to do it all again.

The 23-year-old North Port, Florida native - more affectionately known as “Florida Man” on tour - knew it was a giant leap to join a national series for the first time last season, but he felt it was a step he needed to take. While it was an eight-month campaign with plenty of trials and tribulations, Danny and his parents certainly came out the other side in better shape after their Rayce Rudeen Foundation Rookie run.

Finishing 11th in driver points last year, the Randerson Racing No. 24D pilot picked up top-10 finishes at Illinois’ Tri-City Speedway, Washington’s Skagit Speedway, and Ohio’s Eldora Speedway before the proudest moment of his young career came on a gloomy September Saturday in New Jersey.

Starting from the outside pole of the feature at Bridgeport Motorsports Park, Sams followed Giovanni Scelzi for the opening seven laps before pouncing to take the lead in traffic on Lap 8. He immediately built a near two-second advantage with a blistering pace before the race was halted on Lap 10 with the skies opening and rain pouring down. After a short delay with more weather on the way, the race was called with the No. 24D in front for one of the most popular wins in Interstate Batteries High Limit Racing history.

That night his mom Tina said: “Just to be here with him, we gave everything we could to make this happen,” followed by D2, his dad, saying “We won’t give up on his dreams.”

After an off-season full of preparation at their Elkhart, Indiana shop, the Sams’ are fully focused on 2026 with a top-eight points finish the goal they have in mind. With his freshman campaign sending him home with loads of experience, Danny hopes a sophomore surge is ahead on the track.

“As a team, I learned how important it is to have good people and great resources around you,” he said, talking about his 2025 lessons. “I found out that racecraft on the road is significantly harder than what you realize. As a driver, the speed you race at and the pace of the competition is so much higher than regional racing. The variety of the race tracks is also tough to get a hold of early on. You’re going from one extreme to the next, like a big half-mile to a small bullring in back-to-back nights, but you see how that doesn't impact the great teams. The top teams in our sport are so good at overcoming adversity.”

One benefit of having a year under his belt is that the Sams’ will return to places with a notebook now. Last year, he visited 23 tracks for the first time in his career, whereas that number is down to only 10 new venues on the 2026 schedule. He’s won at a trio of tracks on the calendar including Indiana’s Lawrenceburg Speedway, Wisconsin’s Gondik Law Speedway, and Michigan’s Butler Motor Speedway, one track he’s always ecstatic about.

“I’m probably most excited for all of Port Royal [Speedway] since we have eight nights there,” Sams said looking ahead at 2026. “I started off so, so bad there, but we picked up some speed and I’ve grown to really enjoy it the more we go there. Skagit is another I’m looking forward to after going to Washington for the first time last year. I have to mention Butler, too, as much asI've raced there. The fans up there are awesome.”

The Randerson Racing No. 24D is one of five teams (Randall, Lynch, Vermeer, Dutcher) currently committed to battling for the ‘Joker Fund’ this year, and more importantly, chasing High Roller Club membership which can be obtainted via a top-three points finish in 2026 or 2027, or a top-eight points finish in both years - specifically the goal they’ve set this year.

Sams’ 2026 Interstate Batteries High Limit Racing season officially opens with the SugarBee Blackjack Bash at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on March 12-14 during NASCAR weekend. The 65-race tour will criss-cross the country for eight months before concluding with the All-In Championship Weekend at Texas Motor Speedway on October 16-17.
