Restart Procedures, Work Area Updates, and Provisional Changes Highlight 2026 Edits to HLR Rulebook

BROWNSBURG, IND. (February 3, 2026) – Ahead of the 2026 High Limit Racing season, which begins next month at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on March 12-14, officials have published the 2026 rulebook with notable changes to the work area, race restarts, and series provisionals, among other updates.

The 2026 High Limit Racing Rulebook, in its entirety, can be viewed here.

On page 15, under the Restarts section of Racing Event Procedures, an amendment to single-file restart procedure has been made with the elimination of the frontstretch restart cone and all focus being on the turn four cone now. Rule D.6.B.4 reads as follows:

“On single-file restarts, there will be no restart cone on the frontstretch. Competitors may not pass before the restart cone in turn four.”

It goes on to explain under Rule D.6.B.5:

“If a car passes before the restart cone or is not in a proper nose-to-tail alignment and/or is guilty of an excessive gap between cars, then that car will be penalized. When this infraction occurs, High Limit Officials may exercise their discretion and 1) call for an immediate restart and penalize the offending car(s) two positions prior to the subsequent restart or 2) not call for another restart and allow the race to continue and then penalize the offending car(s) two positions under the next yellow, red or checkered flag. If there are multiple violations by the same car(s), the respective car(s) may be disqualified from that respective race.”

On page 18, under General Racing Procedures, an amendment to one-minute work area time only being guaranteed to cars with a flat tire has been made. Rule D.6.F.24 reads as follows:

“Designated work area time is 1 minute for all events (except the Dash) for cars that have a flat tire only. The work area is always open; however, time will not be given during the Dash, if a car is one or more laps down, and past halfway of any events. If a flat tire occurs after push off before initial green in the A-Main, 1 minute will be given in the work area. Work area guaranteed time is limited to one occasion during any event. Any additional work area trips will not have guaranteed time. No changing of any tire or wheel unless flat or damaged and approved by an Official. No adding fuel in the work area unless it’s an open red. Any cars going to the work area and re-entering the race together will be positioned in the order of their last scored lap at the rear of the field behind cars that are on the same lap as they are.”

On page 23, under Provisionals, an amendment that limits the starting lineup to a maximum of two series provisionals per night and removes their eligibility from contingency awards has been made. Rule G.G. reads as follows:

“There will be a maximum of two (2) High Limit Sprint Car Series provisionals available per night. The order of eligibility on provisionals will be based on the current season’s Owner Point Standings. The first three nights of a new season will revert to the previous season’s High Roller Club standings for eligibility.”

Also highlighted is this fact under G.I:

“Provisionals will not be eligible for any additional contingency awards handed out by High Limit Racing, such as Hard Charger, Fastest Lap. etc.”

Each Double Down member in good standing will receive three (3) provisionals before the start of the points season. All Double Down members will receive one additional provisional for use at the season-opening weekend only.

Any further changes/additions to the Official Rulebook of High Limit Racing will be communicated to race teams and updated online. If you have any questions, feel free to contact Competition Director Mike Hess at mhess@highlimitracing.com.
