HOME COOKIN': PA Posse Star Anthony Macri Dominates Opening Night of Port Royal's Tuscarora 50
After 14 tries, Anthony Macri finally became a Kubota High Limit Racing winner in his home state on Thursday - dominating the opening night of Port Royal Speedway's Tuscarora 50.
Ironically enough, the Dillsburg, Pennsylvania native had been a bit of a road warrior with the High Rollers - winning with the series at 34 Raceway in 2023 and Texas Motor Speedway in 2024. In fact, he joins Kyle Larson, Rico Abreu & Justin Peck as the only four drivers to earn a Kubota High Limit Racing win in each of the last three seasons.
Starting from the outside pole and immediately shooting to the lead, Macri survived a single restart, controlled all 25 laps, and crossed the finish line with a 4.184-second advantage - the third-largest margin of victory in series history.
At 26-years-old, Macri is now a 30-time winner at "The Speed Palace" - which ranks 13th all-time in Port Royal Speedway history. Thursday's $10,000 score also marked his 13th overall win of the season, four of those coming at the Juniata County Fairgrounds.
The 2022 Tuscarora 50 champion now has a guaranteed starting spot in Saturday's 50-lap main event. He'll start at worst in 19th as a preliminary winner, unless the #39M is already qualified through Heat Races of the finale.
Vincentown, New Jersey native Justin Whittall came from fifth-to-second, matching his career-best run with Kubota High Limit Racing. The current track championship leader at Port Royal Speedway, Whittall's #67 also ran runner-up during Tuscarora 50 weekend last year.
Rounding out the podium for the first time in his career on Thursday night was Brenham Crouch. The 19-year-old Texan enjoyed a standout showing aboard the CJB Motorsports #5 - earning the pole position and holding on for a third-place finish at a track that he says has been his kryptonite.
Closing out the top-10 in the Tusky opener was Danny Dietrich, Rico Abreu, Ryan Smith, Ashton Torgerson, Trey Starks, Sye Lynch, and Brad Sweet.
