ALL DAY ON DAY ONE: Corey Day Collects Opening Night of Commonwealth Clash at Lernerville

After heartbreaking DNF's at the Skagit Nationals and Tuscarora 50, Corey Day bounced back in a big way on a Friday night - dominating the Commonwealth Clash opener at Lernerville Speedway.

The Jason Meyers Racing, Driven2SaveLives #14BC rolled from P3 at the start of the 30-lapper but faded as far back to fifth at one point before rallying back to the front and sparking a three-way battle for the lead with Sye Lynch, Tyler Courtney, and Corey Day all trading the top spot in three consecutive laps.

Lynch led lap 11 with Courtney controlling lap 12 before Day darted to command on Lap 13.

From there, the Clovis, CA 18-year-old pulled away and mastered lap traffic in a non-stop 30-lapper, extending his advantage to a 4.5-second margin of victory. The win marked Day's seventh trip to Whiskey Myers Victory Lane with Kubota High Limit Racing - creating a three-way tie with Rico Abreu and Brad Sweet for winningest driver with the series in 2024.

Apollo, PA's Sye Lynch capped a career-best performance finishing 2nd aboard his #42 after leading the opening 11 laps. He'll vie for $50,000 tomorrow night at Lernerville, hoping to follow in his father's footsteps as Ed Lynch Jr. beat the World of Outlaws at Lernerville back in 2002.

Rounding out the podium was Tyler Courtney with his 17th podium of the year with Kubota High Limit Racing, tightening the points battle for 2nd with Rico Abreu Racing and his Clauson-Marshall Racing, NOS Energy Drink #7BC.

Closing out the top-10 on Friday at Lernerville was Anthony Macri, James McFadden, Brent Marks, Brad Sweet, Jacob Allen, Spencer Bayston, and Tanner Thorson.
