Rico Abreu's Four Wins Secures May's Cometic Gasket Crew Chief of the Month Award for "Tricky" Ricky Warner
In their fourth season together, Hall of Fame crew chief Ricky Warner and fan-favorite superstar Rico Abreu have hit their stride - turning the #24 car into the hottest team in Sprint Car Racing at the moment.
Through 10 Kubota High Limit Racing events in a loaded month of May, Abreu garnered 625 points in a tight six-way battle to net Warner the Cometic Gasket Crew Chief of the Month Award.
Along with longtime crew members, Zack Middlebrooks and Brady Forbrook, Abreu and Warner won four shows in May: $17,500 Stockyard Stampede at Texas Motor Speedway, $20,000 Hasty Bake Kansas City Clash at Lakeside Speedway, $20,000 Driven2SaveLives Monday MAYhem at Kokomo Speedway, and $20,000 at Grandview Speedway.
Their impressive stretch together has put the #24 team a mere two-points away from overtaking Brad Sweet and Kasey Kahne Racing for the Kubota High Limit Racing championship lead.
The standings will reset for the month of June which has already seen a pair of Roto-Rooter Midweek Series events in Wisconsin and what remains is the $55,555-to-win Eagle Nationals at Nebraska's Eagle Raceway on Tuesday, June 10 then a three-day Diamond Classic at Missouri's Lucas Oil Speedway on June 26-28.
